Acer C720 Chromebook Review

We have been looking for some type of laptop to replace our way out-of-date Dell my wife had from her college days (2002). Yep that old!  The computer still worked as long as it was plugged in instead of using the battery.  We allowed our kids to use the computer since we didn't want them to ruin ours.

Our oldest, now 6, had been using it quite a bit.  The past few months he was unable to get onto certain web sites due to the incapability of the OS.  We couldn't update the flash drives or Java any more so the computer became useless.

My wife and I were trying to decide about getting another laptop for them or something a little more simple like the Chromebook.  After a little research and talking with my brother, Chris Pirillo, we decided on the Chromebook.  We don't have to worry about the kids downloading anything to the laptop and the security issues gives us a sound piece of mind.

We are very pleased with our choice of a laptop.  Our oldest loves getting on the interactive educational web sites to aid his learning.  I have not downloaded any apps for the Chromebook since he likes being on the internet games.  Please take a moment to watch my video review of what my thoughts were on the Acer C720 Chromebook.

I am an average computer "geek" and don't know all the fancy terms and processors but I wanted something simple.  If you are looking for a very simple laptop for kids or surfing the web for yourself then a Chromebook is worth it.

Exercise In A Fun Way

This is a fun activity I adapted from learning at TAHPERD a few years ago.  Any one can play this game even adults.  If you are looking for a new way to exercise and have a change of pace for your routine give this game and some of my other ones a try.

Who says exercising has to be boring or repetitive.  You could even turn it into a family workout.  Instead of using the spots you could use paper plates.   What are you waiting for go get active!

TeachPhysEd: Speed Ball

Fun game I created a few months ago.  Grades 4th and 5th seemed to enjoy it a lot.  This is a great game that middle school and high school students would enjoy.  You don't need a lot of equipment.  Just a tennis ball and hula hoop.

My coworker and I got very addicted to this game.  We spent some of our planning period playing it.  It involves hand-eye coordination, striking, and strategy thinking.  If you think of any adaptations please let me know!

Keep on moving,

Ben
